How to Fix a Sagging Pot Light
The spring clips on most pot lights seem to never work properly after a few years and some of them never worked from day one.
The design of the recessed light in the image below has an inner and outer pot plus a lens trim.
I’m using a sealant glue to hold the pot in place, for those of you with drywall ceilings and where the pot needs to be removed for servicing I suggest that you only use three small drops of the sealant glue on the pot or the final trim.
Some of the things I used.

- Caulking Gun – https://amzn.to/3lMQYd8
You can easily cut dried sealant with a general purpose knife and then remove the trim or the pot as required.
You can use small pieces of old board to keep the pot and the trim flush to the ceiling, underneath the boards I’m using a flexible wood push stick which I made by joining two offcuts with four screws in total.
These type of offcuts are free if you go to any timber yard or construction site just speak nicely to the manager or the foreman.
I left the sealant glue to dry for a day then removed the push stick and the board. Replace the twist lock trim and you’ll done.
